I can still see a preview of the image file in some programs. That's because the preview is stored in the resource fork. It's a Mac-only feature. Sadly, the all-important data fork is hosed. I learned the hard way that Painter doesn't like PSD format. This is a valuable lesson. I'll remember to draw cartoons in RIFF format at 300 dpi--and then make a copy of the finished cartoon in PSD format at 72 dpi--and then make a GIF or JPG copy for the web using Graphic Converter.
