BAZ--as I'm sure you know--Pasadena City College has a good art department. Hands-on nuts-and-bolts in the studio and art history. Visual Arts & Media Studies - Pasadena City College <www.pasadena.edu> I took a full quarter of classes at PCC in 1987 to qualify for a six month student work permit in England. Made the dean's list. Woo hoo! "You're a Pasadena homeboy?" Mostly in the days before the rennovation of Old Town. I lived in a small apartment two blocks north of Colorado and one block west of Lake in 1984 and 1985. Practiced typing at an adult school run by the city--a valuable experience. Worked as a temp at the Bank of America bunker. The Academy Awards were held at the Pasadena Convention Center--I can't remember which year it was--stretch limos drove past me as I walked home from work. I was a deacon at Throop Memorial Unitarian Universalist Church--that was a hoot, I got promoted to deacon after attending for only one week! A small congregation there to say the least. I quit after the lady minister got transfered to Connecticut. She delivered good sermons. My mom volunteers at the Pacific Asia Museum. She went back to school and got a BA degree in art history at UCLA. Her first two years were at PCC. Caltech (which I have never attended--duh!) is flanked by a wall of caffiene on South Lake. Peet's, Starbucks, Borders, all within a single block. No bars, just coffee houses. The bars are located a couple of miles away in Old Town, and elsewhere in Pasadena. Know of any bars to recommend, BAZ? I was loyal to the John Bull Pub for many years. It went out of business awhile back. The homeboy line was mostly irony. | ||
