I'm presently running Mac OS 9.1 on a five year-old beige 266MHz G3 desktop. This model was discontinued the month that I bought it--January 1999--the beige G3 first went into production in 1997. Creating Grid squares in Photoshop 6 and Painter 6 is quite snappy on this old workhorse. It has got an UltraSCSI card and a Seagate hard disk. Very reliable. And Linux PPC runs fast, smooth and clean on it. When I buy a new PowerMac, this one will become a Yellow Dog box.
