Long time no see. Just before you left, you mentioned that you were having computer problems. Tell me about it.

Mac no longer recognizes internal hard disk. Months of work lost, presumably forever. I would have backed up data on external burner today. Dozens of alternate Gridcosm squares and hundreds of text files (about 500 megs worth) were ready for the burner. But I put burning off because I was hunting for the cause of what I thought was a minor problem. Norton AntiVirus gave me a clue when it mentioned a disk error. No mention of a virus, though. I think maybe the hard disk went bad. All of my diagnostic CD-ROMs now ask me the same question: DoI want to initialize the disk? I wonder if it's still under warranty? Expired yesterday, probably. A Seagate UltraSCSI, no less. Is it the second hard disk to bite the big one on this machine? The other one was a Western Digital IDE. I've had an hour and a half of sleep. What depresses me most is that I really don't care about the lost data. It was all crap anyway. I'll take this experience as a harsh lesson learned. Make frequent backups. I certainly will from now on. Who knows, maybe someday I'll create something worth saving.
