i agree with the attention to density. if one thing can be learned from levels full of "minimal" squares is that by the time the very next level comes, these look very different. playing with minimal shapes and colors is something i like to do... plus it helps with the "baiting" of neighboring pieces, or next level. this is one of my favorite aspects of gridcosm. a big chunky blob can become an eyeball one level later. text is fun, too. or the 'extend this abstract shape into something concrete' bait. sometimes it works; othertimes, the bait is missed.
