indeed, you do hafta kinda give newbies the benefit of the doubt. what one person reads into "collaborative" is different than others, it seems. ed and i have mulled over, for *years*, ideas of programming gridcosm to not allow multiple reserves using various criteria. of course it is technically possible. thus far, we have fell back on the human element. somehow, that seems more in the spirit of *human* collaboration. "work it out", etc. but there is still room to tweak things, i think. and, perhaps, a newbie faq & guidelines might be a good step. certainly, gridcosm can be overwhelming to anyone (new or old!)... a little hand-holding can go a long way. strange customs in a strange, new land. this morning, over stumptown coffee, ed and i discussed having the yet-to-be-completed intro pop up to first-time contributors. a sort of "welcome to the world of gridcosm". seems fairly unobtrusive and fair to me, no?
