These paintings (or Paintoons) are a result of my lifelong interest in painting and cartooning.
I decided to use cartoonists' visual vocabulary in full-sized paintings. Cartoonists have worked out a lot of visual cues that painters haven't ever really incorporated into the fine art tradition. Cartoonists have come up with ways to use language (in word balloons), sound effects, showing motion, elapsed time and emotion in a symbolic visual language. |
