I make photo-collage portraits using multiple photos of a single person. Generally, I use a webcam to grab dozens of close-up images of a person (eyes, lips, hair, neck), then I stitch them together in Photoshop. I've just made a digital toyol (tool/toy) with which you can do the same thing. You can select a model, then put the pieces together and save the image data to the server. This project is collaborative on a few levels. For you, the reader of this post, you can build images that will then go into the vast collection of images browseable via 'toyol'. It is a collaboration between you and me, the programmer, in that regard. Also, my friend Jon wrote the server side script which receives and stores information. So in that way, it's a collaboration between you, him and me. Also, many of the models shot their own photos with loose guidance from me. So, in a way, it's a collaboration between you, him, them and me. Whatever. Play with it, let me know what you think and if you encounter any bugs. I'm curious to see how other people put together camposites. I'm curious to see how much of the final "look" of these collages is in the process and how much is in the conceptualisation of the actual artist building it. Flash 6 plug-in required. You can see some of my static bitmap camposites at http://sito.org/~ed/cam | ||
