i think nlt is being a little facetious. mostly pointing out that there are a bunch of "obvious" reasons for multiple IDs, much like people take on different personae in various modes of the internet. on gridcosm (if not all of sito), i think its a bit like writing under a pseudonym -- you can disassociate from your "known" self, experiment a little, play devils advocate. perhaps the most "famous"(?!) incident on sito was the outing of MC Moxie as a nom de net for JER. ...discuss?num=9556
