Did you try GIMP on Windows or Linux, ZOO? I've used it on Linux--for example, my contribution to level 1000 was created with GIMP. Because of the Linux platform's superior stability, GIMP doesn't flake out very often. When it does, you only have to quit the program and restart it. No rebooting.
