actually, When I show the grid to newbies I look for the magical moment when they click on the center piece and recognize that it represnts the lower level - which is not instantaneous, but eventually get through.

then they see it, the potential of it, and the depth of it, and then I tell them that it is 900 and something and they say '.....wow'

then I know they get it. Then they talk in great reverence for all who are involved as if we are all picassos and di vincis etc - as if we were anything but mere willing pawns in ed and jon's cosmic artistic manipulations.

Last Sept 29th & 30th I met someone at dc.indymedia.org that came in from out of town, I whowed them sito and the grid, and their eyes lit up and she said" 'hey!! this is Ed's thing!'

Apparently she did some article on Ed way back when and I was the first non-Omaha SITOid she ever met - and was impressed that the meme had spread so far and wide.
