Although I know about the key combos on a Mac I use (but not for Gridcosm) SnapsPro. It allows you to capture the full screen, a window, a menu or a selected area. The cursor can be hidden or shown, file type and name chosen.

It's useful for me when I'm creating handouts for classes or demonstrations. Printing to an Encad, bitmapping four color separations, scanner setups and other procedures for example. Being able to capture a menu with the cursor pointing to what I want is something the native MacOS doesn't offer. I then take these images into Quark add further directions and then print them out for students reference.
