The color settings in 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0 all do make a difference. Unfortuneately they all do things slightly differently. (You can play around with it in the file>color settings>rgb setup)

Color management was supposed to make things easier but there's a learning curve when it comes to understanding the effects.
