after a bit of struggle compiling (dont ask, sito is a bit touchy that way), i got the libpng stuff on sito, as well as the pnmtopng utilities!! hooray.
officially now, the artchive can accept *and like* png files (displays them, makes thumbnail).
eventually (but not yet!) i will start folding in support for them in gridcosm, hygrid, ... and beyond?
