...showart?show=mxt.0003 How can I explain this 'idea for a sticker' Its something like a brainstorm of several things. So thats what I do - storm my brain of what I associate with the 'sticker'. Well it was the week after 9/11. I thougt of centuries of religious warfare in history and was afraid of more to come listening to George W. Bushs demand for revenge. I read of Muslims attacked on the street in the U.S. Since I was in secondary school I am concious of the things happening in Israel and feel so bad about. What could have less sense than fighting each others faith? Of course I know that there is more behind than only faith. But though I put together symbols of the three religions which were hostile through their history wanting to express that I'd rather like the faithful of every religion to stand together. As I think about it I see how difficult is to express what I meant. Maybe the New Year Print later that year expresses that better (...showart?show=mxt.0004). The idea in my head started with the waning moon and morning star which I replaced by the yellow hexagram. I liked it already in that state but it could have been something for the Near East only - maybe to symbolize peaceful neighborship of Israel and its muslim surrounders. Thats why I involved the red cross. Why red? my brother asked. That leads to the 'colour code'. The cross was red because it was smaller, had a bloody history and completes the reign of basic colours. I wanted simple but strong colours because I wanted to make it a stiker. Green and yellow came through their historical background. Looking at it now the hexagram should be different - it reminds too much to the ones in Nazi-Germany what I didnt intend. The blue ring with white typing is a mix of hope, the U.N. and I knew those peace-dove-stickers. Well thats what I can say about now. Hope it helps. And I see I should do a new try on that 'idea for a sticker'. | ||
