Someone is a little jealous it seems. Well, we could speculate on what shortcomings this inarticulate critic has experienced to make he or she so bitter about simple lines, or we could just see the art in another way. I suppose "guest"'s art is a flurry of complex lines, each with a grunt of angst and righteousness oozing from it, but I like this simple landscape of Ms. Lonergan's, and its companion pieces. For them, I don't ask a lengthy explanation. I don't even require them to be thought of as "art". I just enjoy them for they way they've captured, in so few lines, the weight and motion of a world. As for wiping one's ass with it, it would depend on what paper it was printed on. Good art is worth rubbing all over one's body, for sure!
