Description:Drawing assignment: to create a series of drawings based on a theme or topic. I read an LA Times editorial about the tragedy facing the Navajos after the effects of massive radioactive contamination from uranium mining of reservation lands. I felt compelled to do a series of drawings based on the photos included in the article of the men and women suffering severe health problems. The faces all show the uncertainty and pain associated with this saga and emphasizes the exploitative relationship the Navajos have with the US government. White charcoal on black textured paper.
