Description:Beloved artist, Frida Kahlo lived a difficult life, and when it had ended, witnesses at the cremation reported that during the event, a sudden blast of heat from the open incinerator doors blew her body upright. and that her hair blazed around her head like a halo. It was reported that her lips appeared to break into a seductive grin just as the doors slammed shut again. Since reading this information, I have not been able to rid myself of the image. This highly textured mixed media collage is my interpretation of this event. Her last diary entry read "I hope the leaving is joyful and I hope never to return". I find it so sad that one whose art has brought joy to so many could not embrace and love her life as she deserved to do.
