Description:This mysterious face staring back at you is a mezzotint, which is a unique type of etching. It is made by first scratching the entire surface of a metal plate(usually copper) with a tool called a rocker. The lighter areas are then brought out using a burnishing tool. The plate is then hand inked and run through a press. Anonymous Onlooker is a 6x9 inch mezzotint print in a limited edition of only 10.
