Description:As said earlier, I like making flyers for people. This is yet another flyer for Shaki Presents, aka Rick Omonte, ex-bassist for legendary Connecticut ska band Spring Heeled Jack (1991-2000). Rick heads the weekly "new music" night at BAR, a night club in New Haven, Conn. Rick is about supporting artists, so for every event he has an artist create a unique full-color poster. (Go here for current listings and a poster archive http://www.barnightclub.com/ ) This is the first poster I did for Shaki. As someone who generally only works in black and white, working in color is a challenge, a challenge I like to take on. The image of the girl was quite "boppy", so I stuck to nice bright happy colors. I kept the buildings (based on refernce shots of actual buildings in Portland, Ore.) grey so it wouldn't distract from the figure. The image and lettering was hand-drawn using techincal pens. All color and image tweaking and adjusting was done through Ye Olde Photoshoppe.
