Description:The sculpture from the Amenophis' IV time, who was one of the bigges t controversies among Egyptian pharaohs, contains some of the most beautiful pie ces of sculpture from the ancient Egyptian kingdom (think of the most beautiful Nefertiti!). What makes this particular sculpture so interesting, and what separ ates it from the main-stream in ancient Egyptian sculpture, is the presence of h uman vividness in stone forms, which is opposed to basic art concept of Egyptian s; their sculpture was not created to be Ars per se, it was rather searching its purpose in creating ?bermenschlich and divine categories. How much was Amenophi s, or rather his carver, aware in creation of these new forms? Can the stone por traits created in his time really be considered as the first artistic portraits of ancient Egypt? Human traces in the sand, a daughter observing infinity, a fat her and mother sacrificing to the Sun.
