Description:Portland has a lot of great old theaters, good fodder for your sketchbook. I've gotten quite enthralled by this city's history, so in the guise of the Urban Adventure League, I've made a bicycle tour that goes to several of the old eastside theaters, which the Moreland is one. Here is the text from the zine that accompanies the ride: "Located at 6712 SE Milwaukie Ave. Opened in 1926, the Moreland has been in continuous operation. The Moreland has always kept the same name through its 78 year history. Also, the Moreland is unique because it still has a single screen and still shows first-run Hollywood cinema fare (versus second-run or arthouse fare that many of the historic theaters in town). The interior and exterior have been preserved, retaining the look and feel of a Deco era cinema." (if you want to get a copy of the ride zine, email me!)
